Fire Chief Walt W. White

Walt W. White

Walt began as a young man “simply elated to be hired to drag hoses, climb ladders, and cut holes in roofs.” Forty years later, he had led three public safety organizations across two states.

Twice selected through nationwide searches to become the first externally appointed chief of a century-old department, he served as Fire Chief of the Sacramento Fire Department, the Amador Fire Protection District, and the City of Sparks Fire Department, building trust, strengthening culture, and leading transformational change.

A title may provide authority, but only trust allows someone to truly lead.
